SQUAD WEEK NARROMINE
The entire squad gathered at Narromine for a week of intensive coaching.
The weather was uncharacteristically weak, the whole area was extremely
wet. This gave us some European conditions to play with and
certainly was a challenge. Peter set up some dummy airspace to add a bit
of complexity to the tasks.
We had some opposition, the guest pilots arranged themselves into a
"French" and "German" team. Once again, scenarios were introduced into
the mix; some scenarios found their way into the day without being
asked for.
Morning briefing was generally
followed by a lecture and discussion. Beryl and Arnie excelled
themselves again in the catering department.
EASTER
Peter and Tobi came together at .............. for 4 days of flying near
the Australian Alps. Conditions were varied and tough, great
practise for the real thing. An unfortunate outlanding by Peter
resulted in the retrieve from hell and although only ......kilometres
from home it took over ... hours.
TEAM SESSIONS
Helen (TMS Consulting) has again given up plenty of time to assist the
team preparations. We've had whole team sessions, pilot/ captain
sessions, pilot crew session, 1:1 sessions. Topics covered general
preparations, team building, decision making and process, stress
management and some other sports psychology concepts.
PRACTISE
Allan and Mike have been busy honing their pair flying skills.
Highlights have been an "almost" 500km day late in autumn and a
fantastic flight over and down the dividing range.
DAVID HACK CLASSIC
Alan, Mike, Charlie and Pam attended this year's
event and hosted the Darling Downs Soaring Club display. We spent
the day promoting gliding and showcasing our sport, in particular the
upcoming Worlds.
